With Winter ending, it’s time to re-up on your skincare game! This Spring, your skin will be flawless, glowing, and radiant. But first, let’s clean out that medicine cabinet.
No, no, I don’t mean throw everything away. Keep what’s still usable and chuck what’s on it’s last leg, or about to expire. Your skincare regimen should switch up every season, because 1.) it keeps your skin guessing and doesn’t allow it to get too used to any one product, and 2.) in Winter, the goal is to help your skin stay moisturized but in Spring, you want dewy, fresh magic.
Your Spring Skincare Routine
Step 1: Transition to A New Facial Cleanser
Formulas with charcoal really help to pull out impurities leaving your skin squeaky clean. It’ll help your skin glow from the inside out, which is something you’ll love if you want a little extra oomph in your glow. Want an added bonus? Try this clay exfoliating cleanser. It’s got 2 kicks for the price of one!
Step 2: Exfoliate on the Regular
Once a week is enough but it’s a much needed step in your routine even if you opt for a cleanser with exfoliating qualities. Get yourself a good sugar scrub and massage that baby over every inch of your beautiful face (body, too, if you have the time). Your skin will immediately feel softer, smoother, and look more polished.
Step 3: Lighten Up On the Moisturizer
Like I mentioned earlier, Winter is more for the heavy creams to help keep the frigid air off your face. But in the spring, you can use a lighter moisturizer that doesn’t drag you down quite so much. Opt for something good for normal to oily skin, like Tula Oil-Free Gel Cream, to keep your glow in check and the shininess at bay.
It doesn’t matter how bright the sun is or how cloudy of an afternoon it’s going to be. Your skin desperately needs SPF at all times. A sunburn can happen in any weather, on any day, at any time. Remember this important step to protect yourself from the nasty rays of a gorgeous day. You can even choose a moisturizer with SPF to keep your products to a minimum, if you want. And, keep a small bottle in your purse or your car for reapplications, too.
Step 5: Facial Masks Are Your Friends
Find a few you love and rotate them a couple times a week. Your skin will gladly accept the extra moisture and you will definitely see a difference in how your skin reacts to the weather. Clay, oil, foam, peel, or wash. Whatever you (and your skin) prefer, a face mask a 2-3 times a week will be a great added bonus to your Spring skincare routine.
BONUS TIP: Never Sleep in Your Makeup
This should be something we all already know but I just couldn’t talk about any type of skincare routine without at least acknowledging how damaging this practice is for your skin. No matter how tired you are at the end of the day, always remove your makeup before crawling into bed. The easiest thing you can do is leave a bottle of coconut oil in your nightstand with a clean face towel. Your makeup will melt away and your skin will be fully moisturized all night long.
Skincare should always be taken seriously because we all have different allergies, so please check your labels, test on small portions of skin first, and immediately get rid of anything that causes any unwanted effect. That’s the only way to keep your skin looking good from the inside out.
